Home2Rome Cycle Ride 2009

In support of-
Francis House Childrens Hospice
and
Dis+Abled Together

The Charities

Although the ride will give us both a great sense of achievement, it is not the main reason we are doing it. The main reason is to raise as much money as possible for the two charities below, both of which mean a lot to us.

Francis House Childrens Hospice

Based in south Manchester "Francis House offers the families of very sick children a respite from their role as carers and gives the children a loving home from home."

Francis House does this by giving-

  • "Skilled nursing care for children in a homely, happy and secure place."
  • "An essential break for parents and for the rest of the family"
  • "Friendship, encouragement and relief enabling the whole family to return home refreshed"
  • "A flexible service to meet the needs of the family, including home support and bereavement care"
  • "A lifeline by just being available day or night"

"The philosophy of Francis House and Rainbow Family Trust flows from the belief in the sanctity of life, and the dignity of the person."

Dis+Abled Together

"Dis+Abled Together is a Registered Charity whose purpose is to enable anyone with a disability to go on pilgrimage holidays with the aid of volunteer helpers- usually to places which would normally be inaccessible for someone with a physical disability and/or learning difficulty."

Their aim "is to enable and encourage many people who would otherwise have thought it impossible to make these trips."

On finishing the ride, I will then be spending a week with Dis+Abled Together in Rome as a helper. This will be, as always, a great week which I am really looking forward to.

For more information please email me using the "Contact" section and I will happily send out a Dis+Abled Together leaflet.

All money raised will be split equally between the two charities. To donate either click on the link below or vist the "Sponsorship" page for more ways to support us and these two very worthy charities.
